Allure Crêperie & Café: A taste of Paris in Williamsburg

Author: KELLI CAPLAN

June Yuiska is an artist of sorts. Her palette is a well-appointed food truck and her works of art edible.

Yuiska owns Allure Crêperie & Café and Allure Bakery. She churns out masterpieces that bring joy to hungry customers.

“This is our play-ground,” Yuiska says of her food truck.

‘We have a lot of fun with it.”

The food truck, parked at Williamsburg Prime Outlets, looks like a Parisian café. With its awning and outside tables, the truck exudes a European feel and produces crepes and serves coffee that could come straight from Paris.

Allure has developed a following, and regulars line up for their favorites.

Yuiska has customers who travel from Washington, D.C., and Virginia Beach to get their crepe fix. Customers love that the food is made to order and is always fresh and inviting.

“People eat with their eyes,” she says. “We don’t hide anything. We don’t skimp. It’s gourmet, not fast food. It’s delicious, like a party in your mouth.” The truck opened in 2021, but Yuiska has been baking out of her Williamsburg home and doing event planning for years. She adores being able to please customers with amazing parties and fabulous food. The food truck has allowed her to grow her business and expand Allures presence.

“It’s been fantastic,” she says. “It’s just fun to cook for people. I really enjoy it.”

Yuiska, 56, is one of 16 children and lives in Williamsburg with her husband. She grew up cooking and still uses many of her grandmother’s recipes. As she cooks, she takes great pride in her creations, smiling as she serves them to her customers. She also has several chefs from local restaurants who work at the food truck for fun.

“Everything is made from scratch,” she says. “I’m kind of like a little artist. Food is my medium.” When Yuiska got the offer to park her food truck at the outlets, she couldn’t refuse. It was the perfect location, she says. She has had customers from all over.

“I’ve had people from California come in striped shirts and berets. They come here to get crepes. I’ve gotten to meet so many people. It’s hard not to have fun with this.”

Yuiska, the mother of three grown children, wasn’t always a chef. Her husband was in the military, and when he decided to retire, they chose to settle down in Williamsburg in 2004.

A lover of history and genealogy, Yuiska felt Williamsburg was the ideal place to live. She was a special education teacher in James City County and also worked for Social Services. In 2010, she decided to follow her heart and start an event-planning business.

In addition to the food truck, Yuiska still has a passion for creating amazing events.

“Weddings, baby showers, you name it, I do it,” she says with a smile.

“It makes my heart happy. I really, really enjoy creating.”

In addition, Yuiska feels very strongly about helping those in need.

She donates her tips to community organizations and adopts families for Christmas to ensure they have a wonderful holiday. Yuiska has also been known to feed those who are hungry and can’t afford food. “I like giving back to the community,” she says. “It’s very, very important. It takes a community to raise a child. I love helping people. It’s the best part of giving.”
